Alipay is China's main digital payment app (by Alibaba). It handles QR code payments, online shopping, bills, train tickets, insurance, transfers, and more.

Every Chinese person—even those overseas that I know—has this app on their phone.

Alipay also lets you create and verify accounts on Taobao, 1688, Weidian, and other platforms, making it super handy if you want to dive into the rabbit hole of what China has to offer.

Link Alipay to a bank card with a CNY-¥ account (e.g. Revolut/Wise) saving up to 10% on conversion fees compared to other payment methods like Apple Pay.

Look, you need to understand this one thing. You are purchasing stuff in China, using local Chinese currency (also called CNY, RMB, ¥, yuan). That's why it doesn't make sense to use USD, EUR or any other currency.

Yes, I do completely understand that using your main currency might be easier for you to relate to, but using it you're using your agent's conversion rate, which is really bad and with a fee. So please, use CNY directly, this way you see the true cost of items and shipping prices.

It is a bait and you should not fall into it. If you see someone using any other currency than CNY, you could automatically assume he doesn't know shit.
